In light of eternity, our lives appear as brief moments. Yet we cannot comprehend the loving care God has for every single second of these lives. My hope is to give you a window into His love, joy and strength found in our ordinary days.

How Many Bachelor's Degrees Does It Take to Hang A Door?

We are moving on Saturday.  The plan is to rent our home, so with the idea of being good landlords in mind, we tackled a few projects around the house this weekend.
We decided to replace the busted screen door on the back of the house.  Just getting the rusty old screws out of the frame was a job, and Steve tackled it yesterday afternoon.
While he finished removing the old hardware, I pulled out the directions for the new door.  These directions kicked our collective butt.
Getting the hinges attached so that the door swings open in the right direction was our main source of frustration, confusion and silliness.  We are both oldest children, who think that we can do anything as long as we follow the instructions.  You know, if we read them one more time; and if we just stare at them long enough; and if we attempt to recreate the perfect environment as pictured on said directions, and if we impose upon the directions our utmost belief in their ability to solve the problem...This never fails to lead to a moment when we're in too deep to turn back, and we look at each other like, "What in this world made us think this was a good idea?"
After much effort (and aforementioned blaming of the directions for our problems) we finally got the door hung squarely.  It opens the right direction and even has a handle installed.  It still needs a few more tweaks, but we were too annoyed to even look at it any longer.  The finished product pictures will just have to come later.
